Glial Cell Biology
Outline
Our research projects focus on the molecular networks of neuron-glia and glia-endothelial cell in the brain. The analyses of the glial function may contribute to understanding " the mind " and developing new therapeutic approaches to neuronal diseases.

Neuro Toxicology
Outline
This laboratory has been primarily engaged in toxicological studies on risk assessment of carcinogenicity of environmental chemicals. This is pursued with the use of diverse methodological approaches including molecular biological tools and animal models.
Staffs
Developmental and Regenerative Neurobiology
Outline
The focus of the research in our laboratory is to understand mechanisms and the meaning of neurogenesis in the adult brain. Our recent data suggest the possibility that adult neural tissue can regenerate after brain injury.
Staffs
Gastroenterology and Metabolism
Outline
The lineup of the Division of Gastroenterology and Metabolism includes Professor Takashi Joh since 2006 and about 40 physicians certified in gastroenterology, hepatology and metabolism with a broad range of special interests. The medical staffs in gastroenterology are especially proficient in endoscopic procedures.

Respiratory Medicine, Allergy and Clinical Immunology
Outline
Our department consists of two groups, Respiratory Medicine/Allergy, and Rheumatology. We stand on the practical medical care that we learn from patient in bed side. To offer the treatment that is most suitable for the patient, we are trying to work on the translational research from bench to bed side.

Cardiology
Outline
Our department researches pathophysiology and treatment strategies of both heart and kidney diseases. We now focus on precise characterization of diastolic dysfunction of left ventricle and remission of chronic renal failure. The other targets of our research are renal mechanisms of hypertension and cardio-renal connection.

Neurology
Outline
The mission of the Department of Neurology at Nagoya City University is to pioneer the future of clinical neurology and basic neuroscience, as well as to provide the intensive educational activities for the students and the researchers. Our main interests in the fields of neurology and basic sciences are cognitive behavioral neurology, Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease and stroke.
Staffs
Hematology and Oncology
Outline
Our staff members are trying to provide patients suffering from benign hematologic disorders, hematologic malignancies and various solid tumors with the best evidence-based and personalized treatment. We are also engaged in the education for students and young physicians with strong passion. Our current research focuses on the translational research of lymphoid malignancies between bedside and bench and on the clinical trials for various types of cancers using molecular targeting and immune therapies.
Staffs
Anesthesiology and Medical Crisis Management
Outline
We provide education and training in anesthesia and critical care. We investigate new ideas via clinical and basic research. In the hospital, our professional services include anesthesia in the operation room, pain management in the pain clinic, and critical care in the intensive care unit and emergency room.
Staffs
Radiology
Outline
This department takes responsibility for radiological diagnosis and treatment at the university hospital. Clinical researches are ongoing with respect to high-precision radiotherapy, dual-source computed tomography, time-resolved magnetic resonance imaging, and vascular interventional radiology. Current laboratory studies are focused on radiation fractionation issues, effects of low-dose radiation and radioprotectors.
